Bedroom Checklist

  • Check furniture in the room.
    • Is the appropriate furniture there? (bed and mattress; desk and chair; dresser and wardrobe or built in closet)
    • Is there the correct number of sets? (1 set for a single; 2 sets for a double, etc.)
    • Is there an individual recycling bin? (except apt/suite bedrooms).
  • Check the cleanliness.
    • There is no trash or debris in the room.
    • Floors are swept or vacuumed (no noticeable dirt or bugs).
    • Furniture is wiped down (no noticeable dirt).
  • Check for maintenance concerns.
    • Is this room ready for move-in? Check for any obvious maintenance concerns (e.g., leaks, large hole in the wall, materials left from construction, etc.)
    • Check the screens and windows. Security screens are closed. Windows are closed and locked. Blinds work and appear to be ok.
    • Smoke detectors are uncovered and secure against the ceiling (not hanging).
  • Close and lock the door.
  • Submit any problems.

Apartment and Suite Checklist:

  • Check furniture in the apartment/suite.
    • Is the appropriate furniture there? (dining chairs and table; sofa and 1-seaters; coffee and end tables; tv carts)
  • Check for items in the bathroom supplied by the University?
    • Is there toilet paper in the bathroom?
    • Is there a shower curtain liner?
  • Check the kitchen appliances and spaces (where applicable).
    • Is the fridge and freezer empty and running?
    • Are the cabinets empty?
    • Is there a recycling bin and trash can?
    • Check the cleanliness.
  • Check the cleanliness.
    • There is no trash or debris in the room.
    • Floors are swept or vacuumed (no noticeable dirt or bugs).
    • Furniture is wiped down (no noticeable dirt).
  • Check for maintenance concerns.
    • Check for any obvious maintenance concerns (e.g., leaks, large hole in the wall, materials left from construction, etc.).
    • Check the screens and windows. Security screens are closed. Windows are closed and locked. Blinds work and appear to be ok.
    • Smoke detectors are uncovered and secure against the ceiling (not hanging).
  • Close and lock the door.
  • Submit any problems.

Lounge and Common Area Checklist:       

  • Check furniture in the lounges.
    • Is the furniture set in a nice, useable way? Be sure it is not blocking any exits or fire/life safety equipment/closets.
    • Do you have your game supplies (e.g., ping pong nets and paddles, pool balls, etc.) stored/setup appropriately?
  • Check the cleanliness.
    • There is no trash or debris in the room.
    • Floors are swept or vacuumed (no noticeable dirt or bugs).
    • Furniture is wiped down (no noticeable dirt).
  • Check for items in the bathrooms supplied by the University?
    • Is there toilet paper in the bathroom?
    • Are there shower curtain liners in the showers where needed? (not needed if there is a partition or glass door)
  • Check the kitchen appliances and spaces (where applicable).
    • Is the fridge and freezer empty and running?
    • Are the cabinets empty?
    • Counters are wiped down.
  • Check for maintenance concerns.
    • Check for any obvious maintenance concerns (e.g., leaks, large hole in the wall, materials left from construction, etc.)
    • Check the screens and windows. Security screens are closed. Windows are closed and locked.
    • Smoke detectors are uncovered and secure against the ceiling (not hanging).
    • Fire doors are closing on their own.
  • Check Emergency Phones located in hallways.
    • Check to see if the phone has a dial tone.
    • Make a test call to ensure the phone is operating properly.
  • Submit any problems.
