Transportation & Parking Services is excited to announce the launch of goLehigh BikeShare, powered by Movatic. Our fleet of 30 bikes are available in small, medium, and large for students, staff, faculty, and guests to use on and off campus 7 days a week from 6:00 AM to Midnight.

Rent a bike today! Head to one of our 3 bike stations located inside Lehigh’s parking garages and pavilions across Asa Packer Campus to rent a bike. Unlock and ride for 1 hour for free! After the first free hour, continue to enjoy for only $1 per hour. Please be sure to view the Bicycle Safety Guidelines before riding.

About goLehigh BikeShare

BikeShare Bikes

Transportation & Parking Services’ BikeShare bikes feature a 10-speed drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, an adjustable seat, front and rear reflectors, and a large basket to make commuting around campus and around town comfortable and convenient. 

The bikes were purchased from, and are maintained by, Cutters Bike Shop, a local family-owned bike shop located just few blocks away from Lehigh in historic Southside Bethlehem.

How To Rent a Bike

To rent a bike, follow these steps: 

  1. Download: Download the Movatic app on Google Play or the Apple App Store and create an account.

  2. Unlock: Scan the QR code on the bike. For any issues, report using the help feature in the app.

  3. Ride: Enjoy your ride! Be sure to follow all rules of the road, and always ride in control.

  4. Return & Lock: Lock your bike to a station and select End Rental in the app.

*Please be sure to view the Bicycle Safety Guidelines before riding.

How to Borrow a Bike Lock or Basket

Bike locks are encouraged and can be borrowed from Parking Services on a per semester basis, with the option to renew at the end of each semester. 

Bike Lock Security Deposit: A $20 security deposit will be required and will be returned upon the return of the lock. 

Bike Basket Security Deposit: A $55 security deposit will be required and will be returned upon the return of the basket. 

Parking Services Location & Hours: The Parking Services Office is located at 622 Brodhead Avenue and is open from *8:15 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
*Check Parking Services’ website for the most current hours of operation.

NOTE: The bike locks and baskets available are specifically designed for the goLehigh BikeShare bikes and will not work with other bikes.

Bike Station Locations

There are 3 bike stations located across Asa Packer campus. The bike stations each hold 10 bikes and are located inside the following parking pavilions and garages:

  • 1st Floor of Alumni Building Parking Pavilion

  • 2nd Floor of Farrington Square Parking Garage

  • 1st Floor of Zoellner Arts Center Parking Garage

Terms And Conditions

All individuals who utilize the goLehigh BikeShare are required to sign a contract and liability waiver form which are found in the Movatic app and are signed at time of rental. As noted in the Movatic App, all who use goLehigh BikeShare are advised to follow Lehigh's Bike Etiquette as outlined below:

Please wear a helmet!

Obey all traffic laws, rules, and regulations.

Return the bike to the rental station you picked it up from.

You are not permitted to ride a University bicycle on Mountain Drive (between Asa Packer Campus and Mountaintop or Goodman Campuses) at any time. Bicycles must only be transported between campuses by using Lehigh buses or other vehicles.

 

Save with Memberships!

Membership Options

Annual, semesterly, and summer memberships are available. Each membership includes 8 hours per bike rental session with additional time per session billed at the normal $1 per hour. Memberships can be signed up for in the Movatic App at any time and run for the time-frames noted below.

2024-2025 Memberships

Fall 2024 - $25

  • Membership valid from August 26th to December 31st

Spring 2025 - $25

  • Membership valid from January 1st to May 18th

​Summer 2025 - $25

  • Membership valid from May 19th to August 24th

​Annual Membership - $50

  • Annual memberships are available on a rolling basis and run for 1 year from the day you sign up for your membership. **A complimentary helmet is provided with all new annual memberships. 

*You can cancel your membership at any time, however there are no refunds for canceled memberships.

**Once you have completed signing up for your annual membership, you can either stop by the Parking Services Office or contact Parking Services to schedule picking-up your complimentary helmet. You will be required to show a valid photo ID to confirm your successful membership enrollment. Parking Services is located at 622 Brodhead Avenue and the office is open from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

How To Sign-Up for a Membership

Ready to sign-up? Follow these steps:

  1. Download: If you haven’t already, download the Movatic App on Google Play or the Apple App Store and create an account.

  2. Sign Up: In the Movatic App, select “Memberships” and search for currently available memberships by entering “goLehigh”.

  3. Select & Pay: Select the appropriate membership and follow the prompts to sign up.**

  4. Ride: Enjoy your ride for up to 8 hours/day! Be sure to follow all rules of the road, and always ride in control.

  5. Return & Lock: Lock your bike to the same station you rented it from and select *End Rental in the app.

*Note: When ending your rental, you will be prompted to take a picture of the bike locked back up at the rental station.
**You can cancel your membership at any time, however there are no refunds for canceled memberships.

FAQs

Can I take a bike off campus or to other campuses?

Yes, bikes can be used off campus and to communte around other *campuses.

*Please note, bikes must only be transported between campuses by using Lehigh buses or other vehicles. You are not permitted to ride a University bicycle on Mountain Drive (between Asa Packer Campus and Mountaintop or Goodman Campuses) at any time. 

Is there a rental time limit or maximum fee?

No, you can rent a bike for as long as you wish between the hours of 6:00 AM and Midnight. Unless you have a membership, you will be charged $1/hour for as long as you have the rental.

If you find you are using a bike frequently, consider getting a membership! 

What forms of payment are accepted?

Credit card is the only form of payment accepted by the Movatic App at this time, however, if you wish to apply credit to a wallet in the Movatic App, the Parking Services office can take credit card, cash, check, and Gold Plus payments then apply the credit for you.

Will I be charged cents for a partial hour or will it round up to the closest hour?

Yes, if you use a bike for a partial hour it will round up to the next hour. (I.E. if you use a bike for 3.5 hours, you will be charged for 4 hours). 

What if I notice damage on a bike or a bike gets damaged?

Please use the Movatic App to report all problems or damages to a bike or bike rack location. If you notice damage, please report it in the Movatic App under “Report a Problem” as soon as you notice it.

Is there a way to see how many bikes are available and where?

Yes, in the Movatic App select the location you wish to rent from to see how many bikes are currently available at that location.

Is there a way to reserve a bike ahead of time?

No, the BikeShare is first come first serve. 

I’m having trouble starting/ending a rental. What should I do?

Troubles Starting a Rental: If you are having issues with starting a rental, please head to “Report a Problem” in the Movatic App to notify us of the problem you are experiencing. Once we receive the notification we will determine the source of the problem and will work to fix it as quickly as possible. While you wait for us to resolve the issue, we recommend you try renting a different bike.

Troubles Ending a Rental: If you are having issues with ending a rental, lock the bike to the rack and then use the "Report a Problem" feature to submit a support ticket. Again, once we receive the notification we will determine the source of the problem and will work to fix it as quickly as possible.
