All colleges, academic departments, administrative offices, and research centers have been provided with official lockups created by University Communications and Public Affairs (UCPA). These are the approved marks that should be used to represent these areas across promotional products, merchandise, and communications.
These official sub-brands help create a consistent visual identity across the University and eliminate the use of inconsistent or self-designed marks that can dilute the Lehigh brand and create confusion.
College Logos
Endorsed Sub-Brand Logos
Academic colleges, departments, and programs are not allowed to create distinct identities that are used in place of their lockup logos. These entities must use their appropriate brand extension lockup logos or the master brand logo.
If an academic entity would like to use a symbol without combining their lockup logo on materials, that is allowed. However, the master brand or appropriate brand extension lockup logo must be used in addition to the graphic element but separate from the graphic design.
Entities Without Official Lockups
Entities that do NOT have an official brand extension lockup (such as organizations, initiatives, campaigns or select programs) should not create independent or custom logos.
Instead, they may develop a consistent, unofficial identifier for internal or limited use by typesetting their name in the Dopis font above the one-line Lehigh logo, separated by a rule.
This treatment provides a clear and cohesive way to reference the entity while maintaining alignment with the institutional brand.
The unofficial identifier should always be used in conjunction with the Lehigh master brand and should not be used as a standalone replacement for official university branding.
Examples of this format are provided below for reference.
Guidelines for Using the Institutional Lehigh Logos on Promotional Products
Typography & Font
Any type in the mark should be set in one of the Lehigh brand fonts or the Google font brand substitutes.
Colors
Colors used in the mark should come from Lehigh’s color palette. Logos should be developed in full color and knockout for use over dark and light backgrounds for maximum visibility.
Graphics & Icons
Any graphics or icons created as part of the logo should not manipulate the Lehigh logo or shield. Refer to the logo parameters included in the brand guidelines. Do not use the Lehigh logo or shield in your design.
Layout & Placement Guidance
If you would like to use the Lehigh logo, the name or logo of the office/department must be placed separately from the Lehigh logo (ex. Lehigh logo on right of shirt, "Communications & Public Affairs" on the left side).
If that's cost-prohibitive, the office name be set in one of the Lehigh brand fonts (to distinguish itself from the university logo font) and placed at least the "x-height" of the "LEHIGH" in the logo to help keep it distinct.
