Effective October 1, 2023, University Business Services and Student Auxiliary Services became one area supporting the Lehigh University community. This new area, which will be referred to as Auxiliary Services, brings together departments and leaders that are focused on serving the institution, improving the student experience, and supporting Lehigh’s new strategic plan.
One of the new programs we are launching is the Auxiliary Experience Program. The Auxiliary Experience Program utilizes work-study students to help analyze various services across Lehigh University as secret “shoppers.” The primary goal of this program is to create best-in-class services and a better experience for all who come to Lehigh University to study, work, or live. Our inaugural cohort of Auxiliary Experience Analysts consists of 35 work-study students.
Another program that was developed in Business Services and will continue with renewed excitement for all of Auxiliary Services, is LehighLean. LehighLean is a program that utilizes Lean principles, tools, and practices to engage and empower employees, improve organizational effectiveness, and promote innovation to achieve our strategic initiative of maximizing value for our customers. Lean increases customer satisfaction and quality of service, and optimizes resources by increasing capacity that can be directed to higher value and more satisfying work. We are excited about the programs and services this newly aligned area will develop in the weeks, months, and years to come.
